The Christmas Traditions of the Christmas Eve church service & the early morning performance of the York Wire Cloth Whistle. Photographs from these two events can be found here.
Susquehannock vs. Red Lion
The first half of the meet was lackluster on the part of Susquehannock. There just wasn't much in the way of passion in the swims. The second half, however, something clicked and nearly all the Susquehannock swimmers seemed to come alive, whether it was swimming or cheering teammates on. Meet photographs can be found here.

Susquehannock vs. Dallastown
Susquehannock held up really well and had an excellent meet, even though the deck, so to speak, was stacked against them. This year, Susquehannock is a good sized team with alot of new swimmers, while Dallastown is a good sized team with alot of experienced swimmers. Susquehannock's lone victory of the night came in the Men's 100 Breaststroke. Photographs from the meets can be found here.

Swim Practice v2
The team did quite a bit of kicking at practice this evening. After awhile, my legs hurt just from watching them. Did I mention the team kicked a lot during practice? Some swimmers are better at pulling, others are better at kicking, and other kinda go their own pace no matter what. It's interesting to watch. And now, without further ado, I present the kicking swim team!

Swim Practice
The swim team (men's & women's combined) has about 50 swimmers this year. Which is quite a few more than last year, and the largest team in the recent memories of many. With so many swimmers, I thought it would be advantageous for me to attend a practice or two, with camera in hand, to get a feel for the swimmers. Knowing a little bit about how each person swims, gives me a bit of an edge when it comes to photographing them during a meet. Chandler & Kyle, two swimmers I've worked with in the past, had interesting reactions during the dry-land portion of practice. Enjoy the photographs!

Meet the Team Night
Ah yes, the ever infamous Meet the Team Night. Where every athlete and coach for the season announces who they are. Not exactly the most exciting event ever, but it gets the job done. The real meat-and-potatoes gets accomplished after the introductions when the teams breakout into their respective meetings. These are a few photographs from that night.

WEB Snow Ball
I took a bit of a road trip this past weekend to visit some friends of mine at my collegiate alma mater. Friday evening I swung by the college, where the Wildcat Events Board was hosting their annual Snow Ball dance. Last year it was an grand time, and this year did not disappoint. And even though I didn't stay the whole time, I still had a blast. Enjoy the photographs!

Central York Homecoming
Jake was a good sport putting up with all the photographs being taken. Which is part and parcel of attending Homecoming, especially when you're on the Homecoming Court. Considering the vast differences in lighting from house to house to the golf course, it was interesting keeping colours and exposures consistent. All in all, Cora & Jake were extremely good sports, considering where all we had them walk and pose on the golf course.

TK Photoshoot
This photoshoot, while a bit impromptu, was actually more thought out than the last one of these we did a few years back. Back then, my buddy and I thought it through for all of about five minutes. Which mostly consisted of "we should do this! When are we gonna meet and where are we gonna go?" This time around, though, we thought it through and knew what we were doing, where we were going, and who was driving. It was an absolute blast. We all had fun, and I hope you enjoy the photographs as much as we enjoyed making them!

B*Dazzled @ Springettsbury
Here's just a quick smattering of photographs to come.
Update: 2010 Sept 30
Yesterday evening I finished my initial sorting and editing of photographs. And as I was sorting, I realized that the second time the Big Hitters did the swing number there were five couples. Note that there were four couples in the dance the first time around. I mentioned this to my sister, and for some reason she found this to be quite amusing. It only took me four days to figure it out. When I'm photographing dances, my concern is keeping dancers within the frame, not how many people are on stage from one performance to another on the same day.
It was a beautiful day, and it made for great performances and good conversation. The quote of the day goes to T-Bone: "Where's Micah? He's probably taking a bone-head picture of me." That bone-head picture of T-Bone was taken during the preceding sentence, and is included in this series. It should not be too hard to spot.
There are a number of photographs in here that I especially like, and I trust there will be quite a few photographs that you enjoy as well. So now, on to the web gallery!

Ordeal Weekend
This was the last Ordeal Weekend for my OA Lodge. Earlier in the year, my BSA council and a neighbouring council voted to combine, which means that the old councils and lodges will cease to exist as independent entities before too much more time has passed. Log splitting was the main activity of the weekend, with five hydraulic log-splitters being used around camp. We could have used another two or three for as much use as they were getting. And I spent Saturday morning under a dump truck working on starter issues. All in all, a great weekend. Enjoy the web gallery!

BDazzled, Big Hitters, & York Revs
Due to various circumstances, situations, and lack of Internet access, I'm way behind in getting these photographs posted, so I'll keep it short and sweet. The baseball game was a blast and the Big Hitters had another great set of performances. Without further ado, on to the web gallery!

BSA Jamboree 2010
At the Jamboree I was a member of the inaugural Jamboree Swimming Staff. We had an absolute blast! I had the priviledge of being part of an excellent set of staffers. My shift, if I do say so, simply worked. Considering we were fairly laid back as a whole, everything got done efficiently and in a timely matter. Little ruffled us. And when the weather turned against us, we all joined forces and simply got done what needed to be done.
The highlight of the Jamboree was watching Archer. Archer is a Scout who, due to physical conditions beyond his control, is largely confined to an electric wheelchair. His father brought him down to the pools early most morning so that he would have the pool largely to himself. Watching Archer swim, float, and stand on his own two feet in the water entirely on his own was something to behold. And I think that there was not a dry eye in attendance. On to the photographs!

Markey Wedding & Reception
The wedding of Ben & Katie was a very good one, methought. And in spite of the July heat and humidity, which thankfully abated after the sun set, a grand time was had by all. I find weddings to be interesting events. Because of their importance and formal nature, everything must be "just so." And yet, personalities shine through. This helps to make each wedding unique, and certainly keeps the photographer on their toes. As I eschew poses, I find it much more enjoyable to shoot second and capture the moments in between the "official" moments. With that being said, it's now the opportune time to browse the web gallery. Cheers!

July 4th Parade
Parades and gatherings on the 4th of July are a bit of a tradition. They're always a great excuse to bring out the camera, and this parade and fireworks display proved not to disappoint. The parade was quite good, and it included the first septic truck I've ever seen in a parade, which was quite unique. Above is a brief selection of photographs from the event. All of my photographs are in the web gallery. Enjoy!

Debb Birthday Party
I almost didn't go to this party. I had just finished getting through all of my photographs from B*Dazzled's Dance Shows, and I just wanted to sit, relax, and do not much of anything for a bit. On the other hand, I had been in front of my computer for too many hours, and I needed to get out... which made Debb's surprise birthday party the perfect excuse. Debb was taken fairly by surprise, which was the intention (obviously). Everyone had a grand time hanging out, celebrating Debb's birthday, and spending time with people we don't see quite as often as we'd like.
Happy Birthday Debb! Enjoy the photgraphs.

Ben's Bachelor Party
Ben's Bachelor Party was excellent. Everyone had a great time just hanging out, drinking soda, eating chips, and shooting clay pigeons (to varying degrees of success). After running out of shotgun shells, and picking up the unbroken clay pigeons, we all headed over to Ski Roundtop for dinner. Ben had helped build the deck we sat on for dinner, and I am pleased to report that it successfully held together. The web gallery contains all the photographs from the party. Enjoy!

B*Dazzled Show
Photographs from B*Dazzled's show will be posted here in a few days.
Update: 2010 Jun 26
I've just gotten through my photographs from the first half of the B*Dazzled show. Photographs from the second half of the show will be available in a few more days. (It takes awhile to get through the nearly 3,000 photographs I took during the show).
There were some really great performances, and I tried to include everyone in my photographs. Once again, the Big Hitters were a big hit. And the beginners classes had some snazzy costumes to go along with their performances. Enjoy the photographs!

Update: 2010 Jun 28
I just got the photographs from the second half of the show uploaded. The blacklight number was an excellent start to the second half, and it was followed by more great performances. The little kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as did the Big Hitters, and everyone in between. And now, without further ado, on to the photographs. Enjoy!

In the meantime, here's my photos from past B*Dazzled shows. Enjoy!

B*Dazzled Rehearsal
Photos from B*Dazzled's rehearsal will be posted here in a few days.
Update: 2010 Jun 22
Here's my photographs from the B*Dazzled Rehearsal. I thought the rehearsal went well. It definitely seemed like it was one of the smoother running rehearsals that I've been to for B*Dazzled. There are quite a few good photographs in this set, and there are some really great facial expressions, too. And now, without further ado, on to the photographs. Enjoy!
In the meantime, here's my photographs from past B*Dazzled rehearsals. Enjoy!

Conclave @ Tuckahoe
Conclave was an awesome time! For those who aren't familiar with the OA and Conclaves, basically it's a weekend of camping where several lodges come together for fun, fellowship, and training. Thankfully the rain pretty much held off the entire weekend. The opening show was really good (kudos to Aaron for that), and the Rock Band competition, well, rocked! The host lodge's youth and adult teams really set the bar for Rock Band and has everyone on their feet for standing ovations. Congrats to all participants!
Then ya got the one member of the kitchen crew who managed to slice part of his pinkie finger off in the meat slicer. Tharp, you're gonna hear about that one for years to come, and you ain't gonna live it down anytime soon. It did get me some awesome photos of the OA Medical Staff (of which I am one).

District Qualifying
Considering that I'd coached Haleigh for two years, and provided tips and pointers for another six month on top of that, it was only appropriate that I attend her district qualifying meet. Haleigh swam well, though not as well as I know she could have; meets are hard for her. She's excellent in practice, but there's some disconnect between practice and meets that was finally overcome this past year. Haleigh did qualify for districts, and she did well at districts. We're all looking forward to Haleigh having another excellent swim season. Go Haliegh! Enjoy the web gallery. Cheers!

Susquehannock vs. New Oxford
I'd forgotten how funky the colors in the Southern Y pool area come out in photos. Even with setting white balance ahead of time, it would still need to be changed several times throughout the meet. Speaking of the meet, it was the first or one of the first wins for the New Oxford team. For years they haven't had a local pool to train or compete in, now they do, and it makes a world of difference. They've certainly gotten much better and have more swimmers now than they did several years back when I swam against them.
I got several good candid photos, and some nice turn photos from this meet. Lots of good photos all around. Enjoy!

Susquehannock vs. Central York
This was the first meet of the season I was able to get to, and Central has an excellent natatorium with good lighting for photography. It was a good meet all around with good swims and good times.
Enjoy!
